An Nyoung Lovelies! (Korean)
Finally, I have gotten into the trend of CC creams! Makes sense too, I’m in the motherland of BB and CC creams…Asia! Though, I’m glad I waited this long. I wasn’t “floored” or “amused” at all with the BB and CC creams back in the States. Also, I can’t exactly go to my local CVS or Duane Reade and find popular Asian brand cosmetics. I would have to order it on Amazon or purchase it on another website, paying extra shipping costs. Not to mention if I bought it online, that meant I couldn’t swatch it until I got the product. So at my local Watson’s in Takashimaya, I bought my 1st CC which was the popular Rachel K CC cream from Korea. I was suuuuuuper excited to try this out, and it didn’t disappoint one bit. Below is my review and my thoughts about this product. Enjoy!
Love, Natalie.
Summary
Color: This product only comes in 2 shades, light and lighter. I got the “darkest” color, I guess you can say, which is Neutral. The one in the black bottle is actually even lighter than this shade. However, neutral suits my skintone perfectly! With that said, I’m always the fairest shade in any foundation. MAYBE the 2nd fairest shade, depending on the brand and product range. The tone veers more to the yellow undertone side, while the black Rachel K bottle veers to a pink undertone.

Coverage: This CC cream has very light coverage. If you already have good skin, this will even out your skintone wonderfully, so I recommend this product for people who already have clear skin, but just want to even out skintone and give radiance to the skin. With that said, it gives an awesome glow! Don’t expect it to seriously hide prominent blemishes, because you’ll still need concealer, but it does reduce the appearance of small blemishes. I’ve been really fortunate with good skin genes and rarely do I break out, but coincidentally, I tested this when I wasn’t having such a wonderful skin day. It reduced the appearance of redness, evened out my skin, and gave me a lovely dewy glow, all while still feeling really light and velvety on my skin.
Usage: Use this product the same way you would a foundation. When I use this, I don’t even have to use a brush, I just use my fingers.
Scent: This product has a very light perfume scent. Definitely not as strong as high end, luxury foundations.
Packaging: Ok, the packaging is quite normal, nothing spectacular here. Again, it is almost an exact replica of my beloved By Terry Sheer Expert foundation bottle. It’s a tube bottle. What is really “weird” about the packaging is actually the product information on the bottle and box itself. It says “Cream will dry into a powdery matte finish and skin will appear dewy with a radient glow.” I was like…HUH?! Then I started using it and then I understood what it meant, but I wouldn’t say a matte finish for this product. I’ll talk more about that below.

Longevity: For me, products have to really be able to meet the challenges. When I was testing this product, I wore it on my most hectic days, 10-12 hours straight. I’m an English teacher, so I’m constantly talking, smiling and laughing. Not to mention I live in Singapore, where humidity is on average 70-90% every single day. I go from cold, dry air conditioned spaces to hot and humid when walking from one place to another. It lived up to the challenge, WITHOUT a primer. I can’t say that about my other favorite foundations. It didn’t cake, or leave me looking like a greasy mess after all those hours.
Finish: So on the packaging, it has some really contradictory product info. Powdery matte, dewy and radient glow. Yea, they pretty much hit the nail on the head with this one. It IS all of that at the same time, maybe except the matte part. The product feels and spreads powdery, I think it’s because of all the polymers and dimethicones in the ingredients. It definitely has that silky feeling. Now, I wouldn’t say it leaves a completely matte finish, because when you’re done, your skin is left with an awesome glow. Again, similar to my By Terry Sheer Expert foundation, but not at all heavy or cakey on the skin.

Optimal Occasion: Personally, I would rather use this product either on days when my skin is looking great already or on casual days when I’m not working since this product already performs really well outdoors.
Price: SG $35
Where to Purchase: Watsons (Singapore), Amazon (US)
Final Thoughts: I LOOOOOOVE this stuff! A LOT! At SG $35, it’s definitely cheaper than foundations. This product is my go to base on casual days when wearing foundation is just NOT necessary, but yet I still want to look polished. It feels great on the skin, very light, as if I’m not wearing anything on my face. If you can get your lovely little hands this product, RUN, don’t walk.
